Children in Heat - Available Now!

I've just finished a final revision of my short novel, Children in Heat, and it's now available in the Amazon Kindle store for download!

The book is about one night in a 15-year-old kid's life, and even though there's a lot of bad grammar, sex, violence and potty language being thrown around, I think readers will find a lot with which to relate.

You can get the book in the US here, in the UK here, and in Europe here.

Kind Words and Fishmen

Some nice reviews of the podcast appearing on the webs this week:

MLive outta Michigan listed us before Radiolab and This American Life - whoa!

Also some nice stuff from Operate Phonate.

Lastly, a kind review from a blog called Smudgy Ink Fancy.

We're just beginning our coverage of The Shadow Over Innsmouth on the show. This is my favorite Lovecraft story - worth the long voyage!

Cool Readings from Hot Chicks

The other Fifer and Lackey contributed to the podcast by doing some readings for us! I just did the final production on both over the weekend, and today they've been released on the podcast site - I think they came out smashing. Thanks to all the donors who make it possible!

Check out The Cats of Ulthar, read by Heather Klinke

I'm a Comics Writer!

On their blog, UK graphic novel publisher SelfMadeHero announced their book, The Lovecraft Anthology, volume II, as well as the artist and writer lineup. CHECK IT OUT.

I loved the first volume and was pretty excited to work on this - I adapted The Hound for kick-ass artist Bryan Baugh to illustrate. The book should be out in early 2012.

Speaking of comics - I.N.J. Culbard also finished illustrating the first issue of the book I co-wrote with Chris Lackey, DeadBeats. It looks INCREDIBLE and we're scouting publishers now. YAY, FUNNY BOOKS!

Climbing the Mountains of Madness

Over at the podcast, we've just finished The Whisperer in Darkness and are now digging into At the Mountains of Madness. We're gonna be at this thing for a while...

I'm also slowly working through a final edit of my old novel (now renamed): Children in Heat - look for it this summer on the Kindle!

From Beyond and The Picture in the House - in 3-D!

I've been working my ears off producing these readings over the last few weeks, and as of yesterday, they're finally available!

You can hear From Beyond with Bruce Green here, or The Picture in the House with Andrew Leman here.

But that's not all - these readings are also available together in 3-D audio!

It sounds way more advanced than it is. Basically, you play this track from one device, and when it cues you (or your friends - this is best done with more than one person), you play this track from another device and this track from yet another separate device. All of this is available as well from

It's basically low-tech surround sound - but where you position your speakers, what types of devices you play from, where you place them in the room, and slight delays in synchronicity create a different listening experience every time. My wife and I took it for a test run on a rainy night last week, and it was pretty cool!

The whole idea was inspired by a Flaming Lips concept album called Zaireeka. Hopefully a few folks will take our presentation for a test run!

Graphic Novel Sneak Preview!

The new episode of the podcast is up today, covering The Mound (sounds a little dirty, huh?). But the bigger news is that Lackey and I have announced our collaboration with super-awesome artist I.N.J. Culbard on a new graphic novel called DEADBEATS!

You can see the first three pages of the project here, as well as some character bios. The story is similar to "Some Like It Hot," but with zombies instead of cross-dressing. Man - I couldn't be more excited to finally be working in comics!

Dunwich and Serial Killers

Whew - our final podcast on The Dunwich Horror is up today. It's been a week of podcast madness: I did the final master of our Soundtrack Volume 2 on Monday night (available next week!), edited today's show on Tuesday night, and last evening went into the studio to record Andrew Leman and Bruce Green for our upcoming audio books of The Picture in the House and From Beyond. They did a killer job, but now I've gotta squeeze in the time to edit the readings before February's out (in 3-D, no less). Should be interesting since I'll be away in Baltimore/D.C. all next week for work.

There'll be some diversion this weekend, though - my wife Heather and I have small parts in The Whaler, one of the short plays in competition as part of Serial Killers at the Sacred Fools theater in Hollywood. The show's on Saturday night at 11 and is always a lot of fun. We had a great time last year doing our own show in Serial Killers - an episodic comedy about two cockney gravediggers called Grave Expectations. You can actually see some clips of it here:
